Harbor seals inhabit coastal waters including rocky islands, beaches, bays and estuaries. 

They eat fish, including sole, flounder, sculpin, hake, cod and herring, and cephalopods like octopus and squid.

Size: Harbor seals average 5' to 6' in length with males being slightly larger than females.

Harbor seals are found in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, but only north of the equator.

Reproduction
In California, pups are born between February and April, can swim at birth, and nurse for only about four weeks.
Behaviors
They can dive for up to 40 minutes, but most dives typically last three to seven minutes. Able to sleep in the water, harbor seals pend half of their time on land and half in the water.
